Jakarta International Film Festival 2009

JiFFest, stands for Jakarta International Film Festival, now is celebrating its 11th presentation in the international film industry. When it was held for the first time in 1999, Indonesia had only 4 films produced every year. Fast forward ten years later, it grew into almost 100 titles a year. This increase inspired JiFFest to held its first Indonesian Feature Film Competition with international juries in 2006.

More than just films, JiFFest had become an alternative school and gained international recognition through some its talented "graduates" such as Wahyu Aditya (2004), World Champion International Young Creative Entrepreneur of the Year (2007); Tumpal Tampubolon (2005), Asian Young Filmmakers Fellow Korea (2008); Salman Aristo (2006), writer of Ayat-Ayat Cinta (2007), Laskar Pelangi (2008) and Garuda Di Dadaku (2009) and Yuli Andari Merdekaningtyas (2006), director of Suster Apung, winner of Eagle Awards Metro TV (2006).

This year JiFFest is ready to present high quality films from 25 countries starting on December 4th - 12th '2009. The festival is started with "Sang Pemimpi", making a new record as the first Indonesian film featured as the opening film, and ended with a film entitle "New York I Love You."
